Sex is what comes to mind when some 

think about the most intimate connection 

you can have with another.

But in my experience,

when I look back at those who

I’ve allowed open me up,

it’s not the sex,

but what comes after – 

Two people dreaming side by side,

physically joined while spiritually 

in an entirely different realm,

is the most intimate act possible.

And waking up, returning from that

sublime state,

only to have your eyes looking into theirs,

the first thing you see,

is like coming home from a great journey,

and with a sigh of satisfaction and gratitude,

you whisper, “I’m back.”
